ANTONIA BISTRO- EL Palomar Hotel

This rooftop bar and bistro provides a relaxed atmosphere with outstanding cocktail and food choices with a beautiful view westward overlooking San Francisco Church. The cuisine is a traditional Mexican. This is a great place for both cocktails and dinner but certainly requires a stop for a drink just to enjoy the spectacular view. 

Casa No Name

This small luxury hotel has one of the finest magical garden and rooftop bars in San Miguel. It was designed by San Miguel’s finest landscape architect, Tim Wachter who can make even the smallest spaces architecturally interesting and beautiful. This is a respite you must experience and the Margaritas are terrific. Good beers too.

1826 tequila bar

Located inside the Rosewood. Great for a great margarita or a nightcap.

La Única San Miguel de Allende

This new restaurant has another location In Mexico City that’s popular. It has terrace seating with a beautiful view of the church, vines covering the walkway into the restaurant, great views of the church, and a fun bar area. Food’s a mix of Mexican and seafood.

Atrio restaurant & lounge 

Rooftop restaurant/bar/lounge with breathtaking views, cozy fireplaces and delicious food. It is known for it’s Spanish rice dishes cooked in a high heat Josper Charcoal Oven from Spain. Although this is the main attraction, please do not pass up the delicious grilled steak and seafood options. Make a reservation.

The restaurant

One of our favorite restaurants for an intimate evening. This restaurant serves fine gourmet dishes and good wine. The setting is in a beautiful courtyard. A good place for fish, fine beef and good salads and desserts. A little more expensive but a very nice setting to enjoy a wonderful meal. Make a reservation.

La parada 

This is a 100% Peruvian experience. Ceviche and Piso Sours lead the menu. Local Craft beers and Sangrias are also served. This variety of Peruvian dishes is hard to describe. It varies from raw fish servings to sauteed chicken livers, grilled seafood items, peruvian style salads and lots of potato dishes(Papas La Parada). A unique experience in San Miguel. Give it a try.  

SAN MEZCAL

Right next door to La Parada, this is a very small and unique bar stop if you love Mezcal and small plate tapas. The food is delicious and the Mezcal selection is one of the best in town. Stop in for pre-dinner drinks and appetizers or a post dinner mezcal night cap. Not too many tables but worth the stop.

Taco stand outside of San francisco Church

Great tacos in San Miguel (Bernardo’s favorite)! Open until 3 AM on Friday and Saturday and 1 AM during the weekdays (closed on Mondays). Best after having had a few beers- you can order longaniza (chorizo), al pastor, bistec, or campechano (mixed). They truly are as good as it gets and they are good quality and clean.

Aperi

This restaurant is located at the Dos Casas Boutique hotel It features the fine cuisine prepared by Chef Mateo Salas. He was trained in France and Mexico so you will find gourmet European fare with a Mexican flare. Creative and contemporary. Reservations highly recommended.

Cafe casa blanca 7

This beautiful indoor and outdoor garden restaurant on the first floor of Casa Blanca Hotel has a fantastic variety of Mediterranean cuisine. You will find such things as flatbreads, kebabs, lamb meatballs, Ribeye stuffed meloui and a variety of vegetables to accompany your dinner choices. Head up to the rooftop for an incredible view of the Church of San Francisco. Highly recommended.

Moxi

Tucked away in a modern, boutique hotel, moxi is an elegant place to grab brunch, drinks or dinner. This is one of the finest restaurants in San Miguel. Enrique Olvera has devoted his talent to providing traditional Mexican dishes with a local flavor. You will find beef, fish and lamb as a main course items along with terrific salads, tamales, enchiladas and other classical Mexican favorites. Good wine list.

Don Taco tequila

Great for an afternoon snack and drink. The hibiscus margarita is delicious!

Chamonix

Intimate dining just a block away from the Jardin with a Savory menu of international fare. For lunch or dinner, it is a memorable meal from start to finish.

MI Bistro 300

This is one of the best, most reasonable restaurants in San Miguel. All authentic Mexican dishes exquisitely prepared. Drinks are fantastic. Great wine list. Very casual outdoor tables. At first you feel like you are about to eat in a parking lot restaurant until you sit down and realize you have found your favorite restaurant in San Miguel. Recommendations recommended for large groups.

TRAZO

This restaurant is located in the beautifully renovated Casa 1810 Hotel. The food is gourmet and the servings are small but beautiful and tasty. The seafood is brought in fresh each day and served to perfection. You will also find meats and pastas along with fresh vegetables deliciously served on the side. Save room at the end for fabulous artistically served desserts. The setting is beautiful with dimly lit interior water features and heavy colonial architecture.

CAFE RAMA

This is a restaurant with terrific authentic Mexican dishes. Great flavors with each dish. Has to be one of the best chefs in San Miguel. They also have a nice selection of fine desserts and truffles to satisfy the sweet tooth.

TACOS DON FELIX

This may be one of the finest authentic Mexican gourmet feasts you will experience for a very moderate price. The enchiladas are highly recommended. The setting is in the living and dining area of a home in a residential setting. Reservations are recommended due to the size of the restaurant. You will need to take a taxi to this location. Not real far but more than walking distance

TIO LUCAS

Fun-filled Mexican Folk Art Decor with great indoor and outdoor dining areas as well as a great bar. The best steaks and burgers in town with great chicken dishes too. Live jazz music nightly. This is the place you go if you need dinner very late because it is one of the only restaurants in town with a kitchen that remains open until midnight.

LA POSADITA

This is truly one of the best places in town for Mexican food and the rooftop setting is casual comfortable and uniquely beautiful. Highly recommended.

EL MANATIAL

This one time local Cantina with it’s original swinging wooden doors let you know you are walking into a special place. The old cantina is now newly renovated in such a way to preserve the necessary casual ambience but to allow for some of the finest drinks and the best tapas you will experience in San Miguel. Go there and order a few tapas to start and then just keep ordering. The food is outstanding and the prices are extremely reasonable.

Buenos aires bistro

There are several places to enjoy fine steaks in San Miguel but this restaurant seems to serve the finest and most delicious steaks. Mouthwatering. The atmosphere is casual. The restaurant is small. The beer and wine selection is a perfect complement to your meal. Highly recommended.

Ten ten Pie

This is an easy and fun place to go for good food and super cold beers. Small but really can’t go wrong here. The Mexican food is authentic and delicious. Great place to stop for breakfast or lunch. Nice outdoor seating area for activity and people watching but on a busy street. Hardly romantic but still a favorite. Sit outside and enjoy.

La Mezcaleria

This small Tapas bistro has great food and drinks. Great service. Highly recommended.

Bovine Brasserie

This French Bistro is just that and it’s good. Steak frites, French onion soup, salads, veggies, and several other French Bistro items. Also, a mixologist specializing in some most creative cocktails.

Casa Nostra

This is a very fine Italian restaurant. The first and second floors are well decorated with the feeling that you are eating in beautiful Colonial home rather than a restaurant. The Italian dishes are perfectly prepared. This fresh homemade pasta is mixed table side in a large Parmigiano Reggiano wheel. The flavors will overwhelm you with pleasure and a feeling that the diet starts tomorrow. It is highly recommended. All of the pastas are freshly made and delicious.

Lavanda cafe

Well known local joint that has the best breakfast. The wait is worth it - the chilaquiles are amazing!

Cumpanio

A delightful breakfast spot right off the jardin. Known for their bakery - chocolate croissant, yes please! The croissants made by their French pastry chef may be the best you'll find outside of Paris.

CAFE SAN AUGUSTIN

A sweet tooth's paradise. It is the best place in San Miguel for chocolate and churros plus it's a great place for an inexpensive and delicious breakfast. Always busy.

LA Casa Del Diezmo - El buen Cafe

This small café serves breakfast and lunch. Great food. You can sit outside in the quiet garden of this old historic building where the Diezmo was collected for the Catholic Church. Fine bakery goods. It also offers cooking classes.

Cafe MONET

This is a great place for breakfast. The food is fresh and served with a traditional Mexican flare. Fresh squeezed juices are delicious and the coffee bar includes multiple espresso drinks which are way better than Starbucks. The setting is casual and very comfortable.
